Really, really needing some rain up here right now!! Upper Skagit System is really low and clear right now and it seems everywhere but here is getting a little rain.
Took Kevin and Tim out for a Skagit System Steelhead fly fishing trip today. Had to really work the flies hard in the deeper fast moving water to produce some fish. Had a great time as always and Tim landed not only his first ever Wild Steelhead on a fly but a second as well that turned out to be a brute. Congrats again Tim!

It’s that March Madness time of year again here on the Skagit System !
All Catch and Release right now with Selective Gear Rules in effect. (Single Point barbless hooks, with no bait or scent allowed… and no fishing while under power on the Skagit ;-))
Both the Skagit and Sauk are very low clear right now making for stealthy low water fishing techniques to produce some dandy fish this weekend.
Frank joined us again to kick some more Bass on some dandy Steelhead and local Warnie Johnson joined us to fill the boat. Frank started the morning off just right, hooking into a Steelhead in the 20 pound range, but we never managed to get a picture. It rolled the barbless hook out just before being netted.
… Still a great fish to make for some great memories.

Had some off and on showers during the day but other than that it was great weather, great company and great fishing!!

Great company all weekend long!!
Joined once again by regular and good friend Mark Miller (G.I.T.)
and his long time friend Al for his first Steelheading adventure on the Skagit System. What better way to break Al into Steelheading than by putting him not only into his first ever Steelhead… but a 20 Pounder at that!! Congrats again Al!!

Finally on the mend from this bug that hit me Friday night and a bit slow to recover but am feeling a bit better.
Took Wisconsin Spring Breaker, Aaron, out today for a taste of Northwest Fly Fishing on the Skagit. Nice day to be swinging flies… and even nicer to see Aaron get into and land his first Steelhead on the fly!! CONGRATS AGAIN Aaron!!
Had a great time with ya!!
Aaron with his fly caught Steelhead:

Been a week or so since I’ve taken guys out fly fishing… but way longer since I actually had the chance to swing one myself. Was a nice change of pace!!
Forgot how much I enjoyed it.

Helmet and Harness required… when fishing the Big Dawg and his Pups!!
hehehe
Woke yesterday morning feeling a bit under the weather and with a slight fever to boot… figured, what better than a shot of fishing to cure the bug… besides, the sun was out and sky was blue and the Dawg was in Da Houze!
Hit the water with Big Jim “Glockdawg”, Nick “Glockpup”, and Zak “leadheadzak” for another great day of steelheading on the Skagit. Jim, Nick and Zak all got to land their first ever Steelhead and got the bonus of some take home hatchery steelhead as well.
Great weather, great times and great company helped to drive the fever and achy feeling away… till I got home anyways. Had 102 degree temp when I got home and fever didn’t break till late that night… but still had a great day on the water!
Thanks again guys!!
NOTE: Fish in pics are larger than they appear … these are some big boyz holding them. hehehe

2006 LAST CAST CLUB!!
Join the L.C.C. this year!!
As promised, we’re getting the L.C.C. started on time this year.
Anyone can join, any fish, any state, with any guide or on your own, and rules are simple. Just reply to the post here with your Last Cast Story and I’ll edit this Blog Entry and add your name along with fish species you landed to the 2006 Last Cast Club list below.
L.C.C. Rules: (be honest now!)
This is how it works:
1. To be a member of the L.C.C. you must hook and land a fish on your Last Cast. Whether you keep the fish or not is up to you, but the fish must be landed on your very last cast to be counted for the club.
2. A witness helps but if you are fishing alone we expect you to be honest here when telling your story. A picture helps too.
3. You must say loudly, “Last Cast!” and it has to be just that…your very last cast for the day!! None of those, “OK.. one more cast” things and no more fishing for the rest of the day either.
4. It doesn’t matter if it’s first thing in the morning or at the end of a long day of fishing, to join the L.C.C it has to be your last cast for the day.
(We’ll see how many people join here, maybe we’ll give out some kind of trophy or prize for L.C.C. members with more than one species on their Last Cast…it’s up for ideas)
